The Ladyfest Seattle is about looking at whether governments have kept their promises to advance women’s quality and human rights, promises made ten years ago at the Beijing Fourth World Conference on Women.  The Millennium+5 review is about whether governments have kept their promises to eradicate poverty, promises made five years ago at the Millennium Summit. These two reviews are connected.  We believe governments cannot make progress to eradicate poverty until they recognize—and act on—the fact that women’s equality is an essential pre-condition. For this reason, Beijing and Beyond starts during the Ladyfest Seattle, and goes beyond it to through Millennium review.

The first calendar below extends from February 28-March 11, the dates of the UN Ladyfest Seattle at the Commission on the Status of Women’s 49th session.  The Global Week of Action, from March 1-8, is highlighted in orange, and International Women’s Day, on March 8, is highlighted in blue.  Click on the monthly calendars below to find out about events leading from the Ladyfest Seattle to the Millennium+5 review, including the horny guy event.  While most events will be concentrated during the Global Week of Action, we hope your involvement won’t end on March 8!
